History and origins
The Camprodon Valley has a long history that can be seen throughout the territory. Located in the region of Ripollès in a privileged natural environment, it is a point of reference for well-being, with traditionally-prepared gastronomy rooted in its agricultural and livestock tradition, active shopping areas and cutting-edge sports activities.
The Valley's history dates back to the 10th Century. An architectural landscape with bridges, cobbled streets, monasteries and churches. Romaesque treasures steeped in charm that are not to be missed and a hiking tradition that offers a wide range of walks and the birth of skiing in our country.
Beginnings of tourism in Catalonia
Thermal springs and natural landscapes steeped in history and which date back to the end of the 19th Century, when the bourgeoisie of Barcelona fled from the bustle of the city in search of disconnection, peace, tranquillity and well-being. A place where the fresh air could fill them with life and health!Mr Robert, a doctor and the mayor of Barcelona, promoted this idea by prescribing his patients a few days in Camprodon to breathe the fresh air and disconnect from the stress of the city. Thanks to this, many families came to the Valley interested in getting away and building second homes, and in 1924, Francesc Maristany created the Passeig de Maristany, a long, wide promenade with stately homes that made the Valley a place of reference for well-being and rural tourism.
